i was putting in my new shocks when i noticed this just dangling there...wat is it for, and im perty sure i need it its by the battery

I think its a service port but i COULD be wrong here. being i dont have a newer truck to go look at right now

i hope its nothing...it goes down and runs in front of the engine and back around to the passanger side somwhere

ya there is alot of plugs that are ment for different options on trucks that arnt used in the engine bay its a little un-nerving sometimes

I don't recognize it offhand but Rangers sold in Canada and certain northern U.S. states come standard with a block heater and possibly also a battery heater. Since you live in Minnesota, check the freeze plug locations on the side of the block to see if yours has a block heater - it could be the connector for that or for a battery heater.

BTW: Bob meant it connects to a block/battery heater...not that IT was the heater...

Sorry I have to be a smart *** zack....but all '01+ XLTs have A/C


I dont see anything like that on my 4.0L.
