Yet another wrecked Ranger
Yet another wrecked Ranger
I'm beginning to think Rangers are cursed...seriously. Considering I've driven my Bronco for years and have never even come close to being in an accident.
Well today I wrecked my Ranger. I was merging onto a highway on the on ramp when some lady decided to stop at a yield sign when no one was coming. While I was looking over my shoulder to make sure no one was coming, I turned around to see her stopped and didn't have enough time to stop myself. I hit my brakes and screeched into her bumper at about 10-15 mph. Both airbags went off of course.
To top it all off I had my dog with me, and he was so startled that when I opened my door he ran out and started sprinting towards the highway. After sprinting after him and not being able to catch him luckily a nice lady in a car stopped to pick me up and I managed to get in front of him and catch him.
Ranger isn't that bad, or at least it doesn't look bad. Front bumper is bent up a bit. And the airbags went off. I drove the truck fine from the accident spot to my house and it drove normal. Quarter panels and hood line up like they should be. Checked under the hood and everything else appears to be normal. Don't think the frame is bent.
Her rear bumper was scratched up a bit, but not too bad. I of course got a ticket for careless driving. I admit, I should have been paying closer attention but it would be nice if she hadn't have stopped at a yield sign when no cars were coming. She was one of those that likes to stop, then check if cars are coming, then go.
No batteries in the camera at the moment, so I will try to locate some then post pics.

x2..till you replace both airbags, the sensors, and the RCM youre looking at around $2000-2500...glad youre ok
damn man, im scared to drive mine, seems i read about a wrecked ranger every other day here. glad you ok though man, sucks about the truck
older? his truck is an 05, i highly doubt it will be totaled because of the airbags.

agree with you on both accounts here bud
Yeah, I know the airbags will be 2-3k but thats no where near enough to total it out. Its an 05 with 40k miles. Overall in great shape. I'd say worth 11-12k.
I have to drive the truck until I can get up to my parents and get my Bronco. About a month ago I was driving down the highway and the tensioner pulley came loose and flew out of the bottom of the truck. I have the parts, just have to get up there to fix it.
I have bad luck with vehicles. LOL. In the last few years I've had my Bronco broken into twice, Bronco has been rear ended, Ranger was towed and pistol was stolen out of it, Bronco broke down and now this.
Anyone know if it makes a difference if I cut the airbags out so I don't have to worry about driving around with them up in my grill LOL

LOL my rescue. All you did was come get my dog cause I wasn't sure what was going to happen with the truck. Didn't know if it was driveable or not because I didn't even get a chance to check out the damage before I started chasing my dog LOL
thats the way it usually happens up here, one person wrecks and about two or three follow. Glad your ok! I hate that about the dog, glad you were able to get him and you were ok man! and of course glad the Ranger wasn't too bad.
That's like what happened when I wrecked. I hit the person and they kept going and pulled in a parking lot. I spun out and was in the middle of the road so I hopped a curb and left the truck in a field. I jumped out and ran to check on the other driver. She was hysterical so I didn't go back to my truck. The cop came and did the report. Parents showed up and tow truck showed up. I told him it was down the street and he went and towed it to the impound. I went home and never even saw it till 2 days later.
I know how you feel man, people here in Denver just do not know how to drive. I've been ran off the side road by old people (not singling out people here but they were all in their 70s or older) at least 10 times this week. It's starting to get really scary, I'm about ready to just start driving my dad pos S10 to school cause I don't want to wreck mine.
