01 ranger 4x4 control module

Hi! new to the forum. Can't seem to find a good part number for my 2001 ranger 4x4 transfer case shift control module. The one that's on the module is no good. Checked with the local Ford dealer and they wanted over $300 for one and the parts guy wouldn't give me the replacement number. I'm sure I could find one on line cheaper. Guess they want me to pay for a diagnostic and have their service dept. install it.

I had the same problem with my '99 so I went on eBay and bought one of these

95 96 97 98 99-04 Ford Ranger Transfer Case Shift Motor : eBay Motors (item 130357069862 end time Mar-07-10 06:39:43 PST)

It comes with a 1 year warranty and my works flawlessly.

Thanks for the info SHOBout. My motor is OK the module is shot. Put my buddies 2000 module in it and works fine. His has the same part number mine has, As far as he knows it's the original, but isn't totally sure since he bought the truck used.

Redrocket just going by what he told me, that it was an 00. He pulled it and brought it over in his car, I've only seen his truck once at night. Module was in the same place as mine. Behind the passenger side kick panel.

No problem, if the dealership wants any more than 175 than you're getting ripped off. The parts guy at the counter told me they're allowed to wholesale them if you ask.

Icon5 Actuator motor replaced and now no 4x4 lights

My 01 has a new actuator module, the 4x lights illuminate, but it will not kick into 4 wheel as no lights activate. It toggles back and fourth four or five times before timing out (?). This will occur even if I shut ignition off. Symptoms before new motor installed were typical of a failing motor with occasional difficulty switching to 4 wheel getting progressively worse. The "toggleing" is new since the new motor actuator was installed. Swapped it out for different module (? out of box failure) with same outcome. Bad ECM do you think? New battery last year. ?????
