12V power point

Anyone know what would cause my 12V power point, located on my radio bezel, not to work? It hasnt worked since i've owned the truck, and i don't know where to start. Thanks.

It has a dedicated fuse but the fuse number varies by year. Possibly #22. Check your owner's manual.

If the fuse is OK, the 2-pin plug may not be connected to the back of the PP socket.

My "Cigarette Lighter" works, but the "12V" doesnt. Just different so you know which is which. Thanks Ford!

Well it's easy to figure out. If the fuse is good pull the bezel and disconnect the plug and check it with a test light. If it lights up it's the socket itself. It's just an easy 12V power & ground circuit.

I have the same problem, checked the fuses and the plug on the rear of the power point. I find nothing wrong. Is there anything else it could be?

Fuse :) I had the same problem. Now, the outlet works but the little push in lighter doesn't, go figure.

Looking over the wiring diagrams it appears that the cigarette lighter must be compressed to allow it's filament to ground so current can flow (at least in newer models). The power point doesn’t appear to me to work that way. I haven’t tried to stick some other 12 volt device in the cigarette lighter to see what would happen.
If the fuses are fine and the connector is ok then perhaps it is the cigarette lighter itself has a problem-perhaps lost it's ability to ground.

The 2006 owners manual says that the Power Point is on fuse 34 in the PS kick panel. Page 164.

Thats what i was going to say. Mine stopped working one time and it was not plugged in on the back. I think mine rattled off wheeling.

Check the fuse first then take the radio bezel off and make sure its plugged in.

Does any one know where i could pick up one of the plastic 12V plugs. I have no reason for the cigarette ligher and would rather have a plastic piece for it.

Hows about something like this to fill both holes?
I will be doing that once I start on the interior. http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/...BPoint%2BPlugs
