Icon4 1994 B3000 Coolant Leaking

Hi All,

Can you please help me identify what I need to do to fix this coolant leak that just started happening today? I did my best to get a video showing where I think the leak is coming from.

I bought this not too long ago, never flushed, only topped off here and there, and never noticed any sort of high engine temps or other leaks.

I am trying to see if it would be worth fixing myself, taking to a shop, or junking it.

Thanks in advance!

On the 3.0l it looks like the time chain cover gasket, a common issue on the 3.0l Vulcans

Google: 3.0l Vulcan timing chain cover gasket repair

Several videos and how-to's on whats involved
A lot of wrench work, timing chains on these lasted forever but not expensive to replace either

Check your oil, dip stick, to make sure coolant not leaking into the oil pan

And with engine warmed up and running move your hand around the area and see if you feel a stream of coolant on your hand, lol
I had a pinhole leak in upper rad hose that sprayed on to the front of engine, INVISIBLE until you knew it was there

Thanks, RonD!

Since this has around 190K miles, and I do not know the previous history, I went ahead and also ordered the following from Amazon:

1. MAHLE C32722 Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Gasket
2. Gates 33006S Premium Engine Coolant Thermostat
3. ECCPP Water Pump fits for 1986 1994 for ford Aerostar Ranger for Mazda B3000 3.0L AW4039 125-1530 F1530
4. FEL-PRO TCS 45973 Timing Cover Set w/Sleeve

Might as well, right?

Hey RonD!

I meant to circle back. I ended up flushing the whole system and used
K-Seal ST5501 Multi Purpose One Step Permanent Coolant Leak Repair , BLUE K-Seal ST5501 Multi Purpose One Step Permanent Coolant Leak Repair , BLUE
It stopped the leaking and I have all those cooling system parts on hand, as the cooling system will eventually need to be refurbed.

Crazy how it actually worked and no drips of coolant whatsoever!
