2.3 engine broke a rod need a new engine

My 2.3 engine threw a rod the other day and I need a new engine. What engines can i swap in that will fit without modifying, id like to get a bigger engine if possible and id like to stay with something that has a carburetor. Any suggestions?

Assuming 1997 or older Ranger?
So a 2.3l SOHC Lima engine

There is no larger replacement engine without changing transmission as well

If you want to change trans as well then the 302(5.0L) V8 would be what to put in, many carb/distributor options for that engine
Automatic would be an AOD(not AODE)
Manual would use a 1997-2003 M5OD-R2 from an F-150 w/4.2l V6, the 4.2l modular V6 has same trans bolt pattern as the 302
