Uh, just about anything. CB radio in general is 'beginner' really. All you do is plug the parts into each other and turn it on. It is nothing like amatuer radio (ham) operation. Someday you might want to 'tune' your antenna, but it isn't mandatory.

What do you want the CB for? Just local meet/trail use? If so I might recommend a handheld radio w/ a +12VDC adapter and a mag mount antenna. That's enough to get you communicating w/o taking up valuable cab realestate when you aren't using it. That's what I run personally.. It works just fine.

I bought a Cobra DX series (the smaller of the bunch) and a Wilson "lil wil" mag mount ant. Both from e-bay for less than $100. I get great range and its not even tuned. For 100 bucks I am very satisfied. Check My sig for details.

Get a Wilson Ant. You Cannot go wrong with Wilson. Its what truckers use......it has to be good.

has anybody tried a wilson 500? i think the lil wil is too small(even though i do like the way it looks) but the 1000 makes my truck look small...i figure the 500 is perfect

While the Wilson 1000 is the best bang for the buck as for performance..... The Wilson 500 will work just fine for most of the members needs !!!!
Been using a Wilson 1000 magnet mount on my Jeep Cherokee for OffRoading and it can tolerate a lot of trail abuse...... Performance is GREAT and the 250# magnet has kept the antenna mounted to the roof unless it smacks a large branch at the load coil.....
Buy the Wilson.... you wont be sorry !!!!

Try Copper Electronics.... www.copper.com
These two items will cost you $140 plus tax & shipping....
YOU WILL pay a premium price going to a truck stop !!!!
Expect to pay at least $70 for the antenna and over $100 for the radio at the truck stop.
You will need the antenna tuned for best SWR; 1.5 or less....
