No, wouldn't be much of an anti-theft system if there was.
Even Ford techs have a hard time swapping out computers in PATS vehicles.

1997 Explorer computer didn't have PATS, if you go that route, it must be for same engine model and transmission, and for the 5.0l they are sometimes hard to find since no PATS is more desirable for most people putting a V8 in a Ranger
