2001 XLT 4x4 Airbag Code 27

Was cleaning the interior and disassembled the Passenger Airbag Disable to clean around, afterward got the 2-7 flash. Popped around the site and found the code, just confirming that a trip to Radio Shack and a new bulb did the trick. How did we ever make it back in the 80's with no web for sharing info?

Gomer=Well the exact same thing has just happened to me. I just bought a 2000 Ranger XLT 4x4 with 167,000 miles on it and was detailing it out and found almost all the dash light bulbs burned out so I in got some more and replaced them. But when I got done I was getting a 27 code. Now thanks to you all here I have removed the switch, have it opened up and will head to Radio Shack for a new bulb to solder into the switch. I will let everyone know what happens tomorrow. Thanks Everyone.

A new bulb soldered into the switch removes 27 code. This is an easy 20 minute job even if you're new to soldering. Just make sure you use a fine tip solder iron so you don't overheat the circuit board. If your dead bulb has a red rubber cover on it you can leave that off.

Well went to a Radio Shack here and they did'nt have a bulb so they sent me to an electronics shop who fixed me up with a bulb. But after replacing the bulb twice, then checking them both to be sure they were good, I ended up at a salvage yard and got a different switch for $20.00.
Problem solved. Thanks.

You guys are great. Thought this was going to be a big deal and didn't do anything about it. Easy fix after 2 years of flashing light.
