2003 dome light blowing Fuse #26

Hey so i recently picked up a lil daily ranger n was working on replacing all the halogens with leds

Starting with the dome light i noticed the previous owner must of tried to pop the cover off (2 bulb no middle bulb) and failed where it was kinda loose, so obv my dumbass did this with the door open so right when i popped the cover loose the dome light went off, the lil black covers on the 2 wires (green/yellow and blue/black) are kinda broke and aren’t on the frame of the car but was still holding on to the screws but right when i broke it loose it kinda popped the fuse

Now I’m not 100% sure where I’m post to put these connectors back on cuz i had to stop what i was doing right when i unhooked it from the 2 wires. But when i try to put the small lil wires back on the screws and bolt it back in it pops the fuse.

idk what i did wrong 😭 I’ll get pics but pretty much my question is could breaking those black plastic covers mess up the connection? And Idk which wire is to which screw and which one is ground

Welcome to the forum

Fuse 26 is actually for battery saver relay but it powers up the interior lamp relay, it uses 26 for power as well
Diagram below

These relays are in relay box1, it under the dash above gas pedal area
It has a cover on it that comes off, layout of relays seen here: http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/sa...relays_one.gif

Ill keep this in mind but I’m not completely sure what your saying i should do? Give it a check? Cuz idk it was weird to pop it loose and it shut off unless it damaged the relay cuz i did that

I have a related issue the dome light cover lens and the reflector piece just fell off still attached to each other. I'm guessing i have to super glue the reflector back up to the circuit board
in order to repair this. i need to get the circuit board with the bulbs off the cab ceiling. Does fuse no. 26 supply power to the dome and map lights? i want to work on this but don't want to short anything out
in the process!

Which year, 1997 or 2002?

But in any case dome light and map lights share the same fuse, just different fuses depending on the year
Pull out the fuse and see if map lights still work, if not then leave it out to do the work

Turned out pulling fuse #26 did kill the power to the dome light with door open so went ahead and removed the circuit board gorilla glued it
back on to the reflector and reassembled everything. seems to hold strong. all good now. thanks RonD!
