2004 FX4 Intake Upgrade Dilemma

Before I say anything, let me put out there that I'm extremely new to all this (even to Ranger Forums), so I apologize for my stupidity right off. That aside...

It seems to me that 2004 is the first (if not only) year that the Ranger did not have an MAF Sensor/Housing independent from the stock air box. Me, being new at this, didn't realize this until I tried to install my Volant Cool Air Intake. Since then I've been trying to buy an MAF Housing but I honestly don't know where to start. Should I get an old stock one, or should I get one from an F-150 or Mustang or what? I was wondering if anyone out there is having/has had the same problem, and if so, how they went about fixing it. Thanks.

-JT

Dont wanna come across as a a-hole Easiest way is just return what you got and get the right one.

Id get a stock one from a junk yard... if you go with any other MAF housing it will be big enough to make the computer not read correctly, I tried starting up my ranger with the rouge MAF and it ran like a muscle car with that crazy idle... not good... if you go with a bigger MAF you will need to get a tuner and reprogram the computer to compensate for the larger quantity of air moving over the sensor... easiest and cheapest thing to do is just go to a junk yard and get an older maf housing, just clean it up and install it all together. Volant intakes are really good in my opinion so dont sell it just get a later model MAF housing it wil bolt right up... and since you are using a ranger maf housing there should be no need to reprogram it... just be sure to get the right one... for example if you have the 3.0 get a maf housing out of a 3.0... anything different will throw off the computer and thus you will need a tune
