Are the bulbs you're wanting to replace the backlighting for the cluster (IE, the illumination with the rest of the dash, headlights on) OR is it the idiot light bulbs you're wanting to replace?
Backlighting and general illumination is usually done with 194s, and indication bulbs are usually #74 bulbs. #74 look like a baby brother to the 194s; as both are the 'mini wedge' design with the 'globe' of the bulb usually being a half-pill shape.
As far as clusters go, the 194s use large (usually black) twist-locker sockets. Indicator bulbs (CEL, airbag, seatbelt, door ajar) usually use tan, smaller, twist locker sockets.

04+ clusters do not use 194s at all. They use a standard bulb I believe it's a 2721 or led 74.

On the 2005, the bulbs are a LOT smaller than the 194's. The plastic twist in socket says Toshiba V-2 on the bottom of it, and the bulbs are only 3/16" diameter while a 194 bulb is 3/8" diameter.
I have a 2006 fx4. Online showed instrument cluster lamps as 194 with T10 led replacement. I received the T10 with new bases and they are too big. Anyone had this problem and which part number they ordered to get the smaller Led`s
with base sockets?
I am trying to pass inspection and my check engine light is not coming on when I start my ranger. Because of this I failed the inspection and need to get that working in 60 days. I have removed the panel from the dash and it appears that the light is built into the circuit board and isn't an actual light bulb. Has anyone had this problem or have any idea how to repair it?
