Instrument lights...

I got a couple of questions.

On my 2002 Edge I have two instrument lamps that aren't functioning.

I have been told that between around the 2001-2003 Rangers had two different types of instrument panel illumination.

The first type allows for burned out bulbs to be replaced individually.

The second type requires that the entire instrument panel be replaced because there is (supposedly) no provision for bulb replacement.

That I have lost two areas of illumination on the instrument panel...first the bulb that illuminates my gas guage...second the bulb that illuminates the gear selector...at different times leads me to believe (I'm praying) that my truck has the first type of bulb replacement. That the bulbs might be replaced.

I'd like to replace the whole set but I fear I'm going to unable to find a good used serviceable instrument panel.

So I'm looking for any input that might help me to solve this dilemma.

Whadda ya' think?

it should just be six 194 bulbs. I've helped someone swap their bulbs to LEDs in a 2002 a few years back.

2004 had different bulbs due to cluster redesign but could still be individually replaced

If your cluster is the older style like my 96

You'll have 6x bulbs for the back lighting.

If you have the newer style dash with the digital display, you'll have 5x of the smaller bulbs.

For the older style clusters even the "idiot lights" can be changed using smaller led's than the backlighting uses.

The newer clusters' back lighting & some idiot lights can be changed...I forget which indicators can be changed.... maybe the turn signal indicators & a few more. Some of the other indicators have surface mounted led's (SMD) directly onto the circuit boards. Those can be changed out, but it's not for the average person to tackle... one bad move & you could fry the entire cluster.

I have led's for both style cluster back lighting & even for the older style idiot lights if you need any just let me know.

Buggman LEDs are great. My entire interior has them and I have some outside as well!
