Hello!. My 00 ranger dropped a lifter. And messed the engine up a bit. What I'm trying to find out is what years can I get another 3.0 engine out of? I'm assuming a 98 to 01 for sure but can I go older or newer then that ?

You can pretty much pull out any year 3.0l Vulcan and bolt your intake to it and run it, 1986 to 2008

The taurus/sable Vulcans should have new head gaskets installed because of coolant flow

taurus/sables also used 3.0l DOHC which will NOT fit.

If you don't want to swap intakes then yes, 1998-2008, for fuel pressure reasons,

also check the 8th digit in YOUR VIN, that's the engine code number
3.0l Gas only will be U
3.0l Flex Fuel will be V
You need to match that OR change intakes(injectors really)
