anyone know were i can find a couple of these?

they need to be a 14v 40A/30A SPDT automotive relay.

i have tried Radio Shack with no luck......

 

If it is an automotive relay, auto part stores should have it in the electrical section.

 

I'm pretty sure he would have checked that, maybe try google?

 

nope....biggest they have is 30A....

i tired google, but i am not too trusting......and i want to get it from a company i can get some other electrical stuff from that i need.....most places i found don't have what else i need...

 

That's a lot of amps.

FWIW, the old fender-mounted starter solenoids are simply high current relays. Single contacts though, but easy enough to wire up (high speed of the 2 speed E-fan?).

What are you trying to do?

 

i am working up a way to make a Taurus electric fan work.....both speeds, not just one.....i have contacted SPAL and have one of their 2 speed controllers coming....they say that their controller and wiring can handle the start up spike of the Taurus efan (they say they have sold many of their controllers to be installed on a Taurus efan) and the continous run of the Taurus efan (33A).....the good/cool think is, their controller will work with either the factory water temp gauge sender, or an aftermarket gauge sendor....all you have to do is tap into the wire....so there is no more probe in the radiator, the fan will be run off the actual engine temperature....

i will have the low speed come on at ~170* and the high speed on at 190*.....

 

BTW: their tech support guys sent me a wiring diagram for wiring it up with the 2 speeds working......it looks easy, i just will have to figure out how to run my Auto/Manual/ON switch with it....

I'd think 170* may be too low, it'll be running all the time, but as long as it's adjustable, you'll get it to how you want it.

i will have to play with it a bit....since the low side of the Taurus efan is susposidly rated at 2800 CFM and the high side at 4500 CFM, i doubt the high side when it comes on is on for long.....i might go with a 15* interval for a safety factor....maybe low side come on at 180* (where the thermostat should open at) and the high side come on at around 195*....

hey you gonna have an on/off switch?

Just because of the fan blades breaking in the water? Or maybe that's only the cheapo aftermarket fans. But none the less, even though you don't offroad, maybe you like to hit puddles once in a while, and it could be an investment.

 

not sure what else you need but i think they should have it i keep getting catalog's from them and there like 2.5" thick

 

i had a Auto/Off/On on my Jusnes fan, but i am not going to use it anymore.....i am going to make a SPST switch be a power disconnect to the controller incase of that water problem......SPAL doesn't recommend running a switch on their controllers.....
