4x4 not working

Hi All
The selector switch on my '06 Ranger 4.0 is not working. No illumination, no switch from 2wd. All fuses checked, no luck. Digging deeper I have consulted a repair manual and started the diagnosis process and found that there is no voltage on the connector C281a-2, circuit 704 (plug that goes into the 4wd Module). The action to take is to repair the power supply as necessary. I have no clue where this circuit is or what it's attached to in order to trace the necessary source of power. Does anyone have a schematic of this? Any help would be appreciated.

Pictures of manual's instructions along with connector C281a. ( The unit is a spare one obviously not connected in truck...LOL)

The selector switch is working fine, 4WD is not, lol

Joking, the switch in the dash is just 2 wires and 3 resistors so never breaks

This references a 2006 Ranger 3.0l or 4.0l V6 4x4

4x4CM is the usual problem, the black part in the picture

Key on engine off
Change switch on the dash from 2WD to 4H
4x4CM should "click", if not then dash 4WD lights should start to flash, that means 4x4CM can't "see" shift motor on the transfer case, issue with shift motors position wiring, 4x4CM won't move the motor unless it "knows" exactly what position its in

If no "click" and no flashing lights then first problem is in the 4x4CM, could be lack of power
There are 2 fuses to check, both in Cab fuse box, fuses 27 and 28, they power the 4x4CM

There is a 3rd fuse in Engine Bay fuse box, also 27 but it powers the shift motor not the 4x4CM

Wiring diagram below, 2006 was a transition year when Ford changed the 4x4CM and its wiring, 2001-2005 are one version, 2007-2011 a 2nd version, so 2006 can go either way

Thank you RonD. The drawing is exactly what I was looking for! I will be following your instructions along with confirming continuity of all wires. Will update.

Ok. So I managed to check all fuses, voltages and continuity, It all checks out. Now I need to find a control module Part #6L54-7H473-AB
