93 ford ranger rear ended now speedometer won't work

I have a 93 ford ranger 4x4 v6 4L xlt.
I rear ended somebody and now my speedometer is accurate to like 30 mph and then gets way off. when my gps says 70 my speedometer is reading around 85So I need to get this fixed cause I need to know my speed. Please help
Also I will need any guidance on replacing the hood, header panel, and grill. Any tips and tricks greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

Best guess would be that speedometer itself will need to be replaced, sudden stop probably cause internal shift
Speedometers are not complicated but parts do not like to be jarred
Speedometer cable spins a magnet inside a steel "cup", cup has speed needle attached, magnet pulls cup in the same direction as rotation, there is a spring, Hair spring, that holds the cup back so needle doesn't bounce all over the place, as speed increases magnet spins faster and pulls on cup more and more over coming spring pressure, and needle rises
The spring pressure is more or less what calibrates it
Magnet, cup or spring could have shifted in sudden stop.

How speedometer works seen here: http://www.explainthatstuff.com/how-...ter-works.html

Long shot that cable or gear on drive line was effected
1994 and earlier Rangers use speedometer cable
The cable will be on the transfer case in a 4x4

Get a reversible drill
Remove cable from transfer case, clamp drill on to gear end, should have round knub
Pictures here of what you will pull out of transfer case: Ford Ranger Speedometers - How They Work

Run drill up to speed and see if speedo needle goes up, if not reverse direction of drill
No, it doesn't hurt it to run in the opposite direction, you do that every time you back up

See if speedo jumps around
