94 Ranger Hazard lights not working after LED conversion
94 Ranger Hazard lights not working after LED conversion
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger and I have converted the lights to LED. I replaced the flasher with an LED appropriate one. Turn signals work fine but flashers come on and stay lit but do not blink. Is there a separate flasher for the hazards and if so where is it located?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, 1994 and earlier have 2 flashers, the hazard flasher is on the back side of the cab fuse box, you need to change that for LED use
Make the cab quiet, lol
Key OFF
press down 4-way button
you will hear 4-way flasher CLICK one time, repeat as much as you want/need
Try to locate it
I have found them over by the glove box, but not in a Ranger
Flashers work by having a certain amp "load", i.e. 6 regular bulbs, 4 at the corners, 2 in the dash
When Flasher is activated the relay closes and the "bi-metal" arm heats up from the amp "load" and bends which disconnects it, then it cools off and reconnects, then heats up again, then cools off, ect.....................
LEDs have a lower amp draw/load, so bi-metal arm doesn't heat up enough to separate
This is why when a bulb burns out the flasher stops flashing because it lost part of the "load", similar to the change to LEDs, less load = no flash
Or if you hook up a trailer, 2 extra bulbs, it will flash faster, because of the bigger load

Probably round in 1994, but locate it and then you can feel its shape, if you can't see it, and you can feel it CLICK when 4-way button is pressed just to confirm that's the right part
