96 & 04 alternators... same?

Does anyone know if there is any difference between a 96 & 04 alternator?

I'm going to look at an 04 XLT (same truck as my old one, just different color & newer) & if it happens, I'd like to install my 200a alternator in the 04 if the case, connectors & pulleys are the same.

Luckily, I saved my OEM alternator so changing my 96 back to stock won't be that big of a deal.

My 96 has a 4.0L V6 & the 04 has a 4.0L V6, but I'm sure there are several differences in the motors (I haven't looked under the hood of the 04 since it's in another town).

Thanks for any helpful info

Different engines. You have the OHV engine and the 04 uses the SOHC 4.0.
