98 Ranger airbag code 1-9

Hello, my truck slipped during a black ice storm and I hit a utility pole on my passenger side, hood dent, fender bent, bumper bent and popped tire. Airbag light went on but the bags didn't deploy. I took it to a body shop who did decent for my budget to get me back on the road but my airbag light is still on. I found a wire that goes to what I assume is the crash detector on the passenger side radiator mount that looks like it was damaged in the crash and spliced it back together, though I am a novice with wiring. Airbag light is still upset though. Any ideas? I saw some people say I have to replace an SRS module or something under the cupholders? Just looking for a bit of direction here. Money is sort of tight this week but I really don't like driving without airbags.
