98 ranger key fobs and power mirrors not working
I bought new key fobs and they worked for a little while but slowly began to not work check the batteries in the key fobs I’ve also checked all the fuses and I can’t find what is keeping these two things from working. I have considered that the GEM module might be the cause but I’m just not sure what do y’all think?
There would be no connection between the mirrors and Keyless entry, or the GEM
Mirrors used Fuse 1 in cab fuse box, 7.5amp, and a Ground for the switch, ground is behind drivers side kick panel
Mirrors are powered all the time, not a key on circuit
Keyless entry(Fobs) uses RAP(remote access) Module, which is located behind drivers seat and behind the plastic panel
Looks like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/y7AAA...-LN/s-l300.jpg
RAP actually stands for "remote anti-theft personality", lol, I just say remote access and leave it at that
below is 1999 RAP wiring, 1998 is the same
Check the fuses shown
The antenna for the RAP runs forward and up, inside the "A" pillar drivers side
You can try the "program" mode to see if RAP module is responding, the "key on/off 8 times" thing, if not then RAP module is the problem, or its powered off
It should be on all the time for obvious reasons, lol
