I’m replacing my 99 ranger rear axle shaft and I’ve got it in the axle. Now I juts need to get the gear pin in. I’ve tried rotating one tire at a time to get it to line up but it’s not changing anything when I spin them. The weirdest part is that if I put the old bent axle shaft back in then the pin goes straight in. If anyone has any advice I’d be very thankful.

 

Check to make sure that the washer behind the spider gear is not out of alignment. There should be a concave washer between the gear and the housing, for both gears.
