Icon5 About To Torch My 01 Ranger

well my truck has developed this squeaking/chirping noise coming from one of the stupid pullys...well i bought a brand new belt, idler pully, belt tensioner assembly and the damn thing still does it..now it dosent do it at idle but rev it up a little or drive it, it does it and its very annoying..what could the problem here be?

i soaked the entire front end with wd-40 yesterday haven't started it since

when it was running i would spray wd-40 on the belt and it would go away for about 20-30 seconds then it started again progressively getting louder

Could be the belt(but you said its new) but what I meant was spray 1 pulley at a time run it a while and see if the squeak returns. Do 1 pulley a day then you should find that pesky noise.

sounds like a sticking A/C clutch.....mine did it....replace the A/C compressor pulley and see if that helps...

to check to make sure it is it, remove the clutch part of the pulley and see if it stops squeeking...

clutch on the ac is new..just replaced it because my old one was grinding...with the engine running i sprayed a little wd-40 on the top side of the belt and the squeak goes away momentarily then comes back..it sounds like the belt is squeking on the fan pully

Mine does the same thing. I have UPD's as well. if you ever find a fix, LMK, it's annoying as hell.

Use belt stop squeak, put it on the top of the belt, light coat, it stops for like 5 mins...

I found that spraying wd-40 on a belt will make it worse! Sorry for the useless reply.

take a piece of sandpaper and scuff up your idler and tensioner pulleys.

A quarter gallon is good enough just make sure BOTH windows are DOWN or both doors open. If you use anything over a half a gallon your asking for trouble.

I do hate to say it.. but what type of brand and style belt are you using?

I replaced my own with a brand new belt and teh squeek started happening no matter what I replaced.. switched it over to a new gatorback, and it went away.

I've got the squeek too with all the stock pulleys. It's F***ING ANNOYING!

My neighbor seems to think its in one of the berrings, not the pulleys. I'm going to have to start blasting my music when I drive with my windows down.

Take a small hose and stick it in one of your ears. Then take the other end and find out exactly where it's coming from.

Assuming it's the water pump like you think.. with the belt off see if it has any percievable movement (other than freely rotating) It should have no slop fore/aft or side-side_up-down.

If you're running the underdrive pulley, I would suggest swapping the stock one in and see what happens. I battled the same squeak you are describing and found it to be a worn underdrive pulley:

I replaced the tensioner, idler, alternator, nothing worked until I tried putting the stock one back on. The aluminum pulley was noticeably worn.

If its not the belt or any of the pullys, its the camshaft synchronizer wearing out. Mine did the same thing, and I did everything you have done, just to find out its a completly different part.

the hose is a good idea...what i dont understand is that when i put wd-40 on the flat part of the belt it stops for a few seconds then starts again...the only 2 pullys that the flat part runs on is the fan and idler and the idler is new
