ABS Issue

Hi guys,

I read throught the related threads but wanted to explain my exact situation.

My dad has a bunch of rangers for his company and I borrow them from time-time. About 3 months ago I borrowed a ranger and it wet weather it seemed like the ABS kicked in way to early under braking, and would actually limit the stopping power.

I got this same truck back the other day and my dad mentioned that they had put new brakes on it since. It has been sunny and the brakes felt fine .... up until today where it was pouring rain. I didnt really think to much about the previous braking issue until now as they have felt fine and said to have been redone.

On my way to school this morning I would going to make a left turn arrow but the car infront of me stopped on the amber. I wasnt expecting it but I had a fair bit of distance between us. I hit the brakes and instantly I felt the ABS go nuts. Low and behold I went right into the back of him as the truck just wouldnt stop.

I would like to know where to start to check the braking system and determine if there is an issue. I am thinking that I might just take it in to the stealership and get a mechanic to check it in the damp weather and give me his thoughts.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

welcome to the club lol. my front right tire occasionally locks up in wet weather when i barely touch the brakes. and it limits my stopping power as you stated. try cleaning out or replacing the sensors. mine went away and came back lol so i just deal with it now.
