i got a 98 ranger 2wd with the 4.0 v6 and i was out messin around with my buddys in some mud and my abs light came on..it is still on it drives fine and all what should i do?

 

Did you pressure wash around your wheels really good?

 

no but i think im going to have to do that when i do a tire rotation. do you think that the sensor could be dirty

 

I'm not an expert on that kinda stuff but it'd be the first thing I would've done after muddin'. ABS light on or not, it's just common sense(no offense). I spend 20 minutes with a pressure washer on my truck after a good ride. Not to get it shiney but to get cinders, grit, and whatever else out of your suspension/steering/drivetrain components.

 

my abs light was on when i bought my truck, happens that the master cylinder was low on fluid, so i filled it up and the light went out.

and remember when pressure washing to watch out for seals, gaskets, wires, etc....if the pressure washer is powerful enough, itll slice right through that stuff...BUT hitting the wheels/brakes and stuff is fine and will slow down water heading past them...

Since you need a rotation/balance, you defiantly need to clean out your wheels good before taking it in.

Check the sensor on the forward facing top portion of your rear differential. If the wiring is loose or damaged, it will trip an ABS light.

 

found out today from a code reader at school that it is the front right wheel speed sensor....what do i do from there?

 

Pull the wheel and check the sensor...
