What years it? what engine and transmission do you have?
Very rarely does a pin point test instantly point toward a defective part without some sort of diagnostic test pointing toward a bad part.
However I have seen in pin point test for myself where the first step is to replace a bad part and have to do it on blind faith that this will fix your problem.
The problem I have with this is, if a problem with the harness and or Connectors causes the perfect scenario to short a circuit in the computer that is triggering this simple code.
Meaning I normally like to have a better reason other than the pin point test told me to replace a part.
Without the year of the truck and other important information from you it is hard to confirm what your saying and or get new information for you.

it's a 1994 with the 5 speed manual. I've already replaced the part but it is still saying it has gone bad.

What you need is a factory service manual with the pin point test for rabs code 4
I am certain this pin point test will lead you to what test should be run rather than buying random parts you may not need.
