ABS sensor and cruise control

The ABS light is on in my '99. The cruise control works fine. I heard the abs sensor on top of the differential controls both ABS and cruise control. Is this true? If so it must be one of the sensors on the front, right?

The sensor is for the abs and VSS. The VSS drives the speedo, and the cruise.

My sensor went bad and my speedo was still working.

IMHO, reset the computer and check your fluid level. Then swap out the rear speed sensor, its 20 bucks and reset again. Beyond that you are going to the dealer to or a good shop with the abs scanner.

I know the abs light was on in my dad's '00 F150. Cruise still worked. I pulled the sensor on top of the differential and cleaned it real good since there was some metal shavings on it. Popped it back in and no more abs light.

Think I'll try a new sensor. For 20 bucks, it's worth a try. Thanks.
