I had to take the ac line of to fix a piece of hosing got it fixed and put it back on but now the ac compressor wont kick on and off and it isnt locked up please help i would really like to have ac again its hot in Alabama.

 

you gota recharge your system

 

a/c system should be evacuated and recharged after line removal.

 

pretty much wahts been said... and for the love of god dont get that damn kit you can get at autozone!!!!!!!!!

how do you get it to take freon if the compressor isnt kicking on

 

the compressor has a high and low pressure switch

it won't kick on if there is too much or too little pressure

 

i recharged with the autozone kit. didn't vac out first, not as cold as before but at least it works.

 

is there a way to vaccum it out yourself?

 

the stuff from auto zone is just something that will mimic refrigerant, they are basically useless unless you have a leak, and then its still useless, you really dont have to vac out on a system this small, its still good to do it because it will prolong everything, but the best thing to do would be to find someone or a shop that can put actual refrigerant into the system, it will run colder and helps keep your system working better

 

vacuum basicly boils the moisture in the system and you can check for a leak as well, that is all it does. moisture in the system wont make it cool as well.

 

considering those dumb kits are what...25 bucks. and getting a vac/recharge at a shop will cost 50-75 bucks and be colder and last much longer. its a no brainer.

 

def agree, and also those cheap kits have sealer in them, which makes things very difficult to flush out a system.

 

well i just pored denat alcohol through the works so that took out all the moisture thanks for all the info everyone
