air bag light

My stupid airback light comes on randomly... IT started about 4 months ago, its truns on for a few days-a few weeks then turns off again! I took it to the dealer a few months back but guess what happends? It turned off when i got there lol.. well i havent seen it for a few months but it came back on monday...

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just mine? If anyone has had it, what was the problem?

Get the codes read if you can to help you narrow it down. As a shot in the dark, try cleaning the connectors under the seats that go to the pretensioners.

There is a TSB for a seatbelt pretensioner problem that will light the air bag MIL. I had the same problem and it has been fixed.

is that seatbelt pretensioner the thing that if you extend the seat belt all the way out and bring it back it sorta locks in that position? The passenger side does that but the drivers doesnt

No. It is a saftey device that may tighten the belts tighter in the event of a collision. Less than perfect connections under the seat sometimes increase the overall resistance of the circuit. The Restraints Control Module only accepts a small window of allowable voltage drop and sets a code if the resistance pushes the voltage out of spec.

I have a similar problem. I bought my Ranger on Wednesday and was fine but Saturday morning my airbag light came on...then went off. And a few hours later went on for a bit then off again. It flashes 4 then 7 then 4 then 7 then stays on. The dealership I bought the truck from said theyll pay for the repairs because ive only had the truck 5 days....

Anyone know what code 4-7 means? Im hoping its small...like maybe needs a new sensor...the truck only has 21k miles tho...

I believe that 47 is what I had a couple months ago and the problem is caused by the passenger airbag disable light burning out. I replaced the bulb with one from Radio Shack and the problem is gone. Now that I think about it tho, mine may have been 29 but I can't remember for sure.

I dont think its the passenger air bag disable light because when I start my car it lights up immediately then goes off like it should...my airbag light hasnt come on since saturday so Im hoping its nothing major. Im going to call the ford dealership near me tomorrow and see if they know what 47 is

Heres what someone told me in another forum

"the code 4-7 is either driver or passenger seat plug is faulty/unplugged. i had that code and i forget which side it was for tho.....had it replaced under warranty. but look under both seats and make sure the grey connectors (or at least i think i remember them as grey) are still connected, and connected securley. good luck "

Anyone else think this is a possibility? And if so, does anyone know how much this could cost to replace?
