Air Bag Light Flashing Codes??

I know some of you guys on here are Ford Technicians so I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what is wrong when my Airbag light is flashing code 47 (blinks 4 times then 7 times and repeats). Called Ford and they said I would have to take it in to check it out and that airbags won't work until problem is resolved. I just wanted to see if anyone out there could give me some extra information. Thanks.

Not to hyjack, but I'm having the same issue, only I'm getting a 19. If anybody would mind looking that up as well, I'd appreciate it.

code 4-7 should be Passenger side belt pretensioner. check the connection under the seat. clean the pins and see if that fixs it.

Yep, mine did that once too. I just unplugged the connector and pluged it back up and it went away!

Have your airbag(s) ever deployed? I don't have 2004-specific codes but a code 19 in a 2001~2003 Ranger means that the Restraints Control Module crash data memory is full. I'm not sure but I don't think that the Module data can be reset at the dealership level.

You should try to get 2004 info because the restraints codes are sometimes different model to model and year to year.

I'm sure you're right Bob. My airbags did go off previously, and I replaced everything but the PCM. I found a place that will reset the PCM for $100. I believe the dealer actually changes it out.

I'm sure that they would be resetting/replacing the Restraints Control Module, not the Powertrain Control Module. The RCM is where the Event Data Recorder is located.

That code is for the Passenger Airbag Disable switch circuit and it usually means that the indicator bulb is burned out.

The bulb looks kinda like an LED but it is actually a PC board mount white filament bulb with a yellow cover on it. From what I've heard, Ford services the switch "as an assembly" for about $75. I don't know where you'd get the bulb separately and it has to have the right resistance for the diagnostics to work.

If your truck has less than 50,000 miles, check with your dealer about Restraints System Warranty. It's 5/50.

It is actually a small incandescent bulb, not an LED. Here's the link to the budget fix. I haven't done this repair myself but the member who posted it is someone who I would consider to be reliable.

Hello old thread.

Mine was flashing the other day, but its stopped now. How do you identify the codes if it happens again? Number of flashed followed by number of seconds before it repeats?

The restraints flash codes are all two digit. So, you will see a pattern of flashes followed by a pause, then some more flashes and another pause. This pattern will repeat maybe three times after starting the truck, then go solid. Just count the 2 groups of flashes and you will have the code. I can tell you what it means.

Air Bag Light Flashing Codes??

2001 XLT Extended cab. I read all of the post but not sure I got the answer. Hers's the story.

Over the long weekend I did a seat swap. I pulled the old 60/40 and replaced them with seats out of an Explorer (Eddie Bauer). I had to do quite a bit of frabication but ended up using the old seat belt connecter from my old seats. The flashing code I am getting is 2 flahes followed by 7 flashes. Anyone have any idea how to reset it?

I pulled the battery cable and left it off for about 5 minutes thinking it might reset. All I ended up doing was loosing my presets on the XM.

Help!!

You can't reset it because it is a bulb failure. Code 2-7 and the fixes are explained in this thread. Here is a how-to for a cheap fix:
