i just hooked up my gauges tonite (voltmeter and air/fuel) but my air/fuel is not working. i hooked to the front pass. side o2 sensor white wire. the gauge just sit on rich no movement at all. does anybody have any ideas why its not working?

 

uhm...my guess would be u tapped the wrong wire. im not sure what wire it is for the rangers

 

autometer says to tap into the white wire on the 02 sensor!?

 

Are you sure there is power going to it? Or you may have a bad sensor. idk

 

im goin to check where i had to butt up the signal wire tomorrow

 

i doubt the sensor is bad i got an 08 ranger w/ 1800 miles

 

For 2007/2008, the sensor output color codes in the engine/trans harness should be:

PS: violet/green
DS: yellow/green

I prefer to tap in near the PCM connector because it offers a much cleaner, drier location.

In the factory Wiring manuals, Ford doesn't call out the colors of the wires in the sensor pigtail itself. The common 4-wire Bosch sensors that I've seen usually use black for the sensor output. The 2 white wires are usually +12v power and ground for the sensor heater. No guarantees though because Ford may buy the sensors from multiple suppliers who are free to use their own color codes.

 

Its actually the Signal wire..:)

i had my daughter all day so i didnt get a chance to fix it. ill get to it this week

 

you need to hook it to the black wire, if you are connecting it near the sensor... the two white wires are the heater wires, the grey wire is sensor ground.

 

The oxygen sensor outputs a voltage that is generated in an electrochemical fuel cell. That voltage represents the concentration of oxygen remaining in the exhaust stream relative to that of ambient air. The signal is the voltage level that is output from the oxygen sensor to the PCM.

It's two ways of saying the same thing.

An aftermarket oil ressure gauge will not work from the factory sending switch. It needs its own sending unit.

It should be possible to use pipe fittings to mount the A/M sender along with the original sender. If you replace the original sender, you may have to jump a wire to kill the dash idiot light.

The oil port on your 4.0L is on the driver side front of the block below the A/C compressor. Look for a small screw-in sender with a single wire. The 2007/8 color code is gray.

If you decide to run both senders together, then you will need pipe fittings to adapt it. Even if you run just the AutoMeter sender, you might possibly need to add something because the clearance in that area is very tight.

Of course, you will need wire to run between the sender and the gauge and also for power and illumination. I don't remember if AutoMeter includes any wire. Probably not.
