What is this spring???
This is in front of the driver's side rear wheel. I hear a loud pop while driving, and pulled over to see this hanging off. (2.3L 5 speed)

By the looks of it, it is your return spring for your E-brake.

I Just checked on my truck and it is your return spring for your E-brake.it does not look like it is broken so you should be able to clip it back on.

ok nevermind, I figured it out. Although I don't really understand what the spring is there for. The brake works and releases just the same with or without it.

that made a "loud" pop? haha


make sure everything else looks right, maybe pull the drums off the back and take a look..
depends on how loud it really was.
