alarm and stuff

ok, so my truck doesn't have power windows or locks. but i am going to build a wooden center console and i wanted to put the lock switch and window switches on the console.

and i wanted to get an alarm (2 way paging, remote start, lock/unlock, etc). i was wondering if all i really need to convert it to power locks and windows was just the lock actuators and the window motors and a little bit of hard-wiring?

i was hoping i could just wire the lock/unlock wires of the alarm straight to the switch w/o relays or taping into anything stock. so i can roll the windows up/down while the ignition is off.

got it?

thanks alot guys

You'll either need to find an alarm that has the relays built in (only seen a few that claim to have them) or you'll have to add them or a keyless entry system tied to the alarm. Same with the power windows. In addition to that you'll more than likely need to replace the window regulators.

As to where you mount the switches makes no difference it just wiring from them to the relays.

i would not worry about the widow modules because if you dont have power windows origionally then you are going to have to get all the power window stuff out of a junk yard car or something like that, and then get window modules to wire them to the alarm. you can hook the lock/unlock wires for your door lock actuator straight to the lock/unlock wire on the alarm and it will work. i would get a viper 3202 alarm because they have a relay pack for the remote start, it has a two-way page remote, and it also has the relays built into the brain incase you need them for the lock/unlock wires. hopes this helps.

well you will need relays no getting around that. because when you as locks to the car you have to use ones that require more power than 200ma, so you have to do a 5wire lock which means off the alarm you use a relay for both lock and unlock. have fun with it, i dont do acuator installs because they are such a ***** to do.

the viper alarms comes with a DEI 451m module that has all the door lock relays all built into the module so that it makes it easy to use and install. door lock actuators are not hard to do at all. i have actuators in both of my doors in my 95 ranger and they took about 30 min a door to get done. rangers are easy to do actuators; some cars are harder than others but with the way that the door is designed in a ranger they are easy to do.

you have to make sure the alarm you get is tagged with a included 451m sticker over the seal. my past 4 dei havent had them come with it, only 1 has. if i have to do a 5 wire i just wire up a relay it is easier that using the 451m. and price depends on what you want $200-800 installed, and 800 being top of the line with battery backup, extra sirens.
