Clutch concerns?...
I did some "light" wheeling today on some power lines, anyways I was riding my clutch a lot all day without thinking about it . My last run through the mud on the power lines I was coming back to another truck that was out there with me and I could smell my clutch and i look behind me and I see some smoke, I'm like ****. So I parked it and let it cool off, and i could smell it all the way home till it had some real time to cool off, I don't smell it anymore, and the clutch feels fine, doesn't slip or feel like anything is wrong.. Is my clutch all set? Is it possible that I could have worn anything down in it? I just don't want to ruin it since it's my daily driver, i need to ease off that damn clutch from now on when I wheel.. at least I covered my truck in mud though, but forgot my camera :\

hmm, Not sure if my clutch did this before, but now when I let out of first gear, when the clutch is almost out it seems to shake the truck a little, almost like a vibrating feeling, Is this normal? Is this what clutch slipage feels likes? Or do I have another problem? No clue if it did this before, maybe I'm just noticing weird things since I felt bad for beating on the clutch this weekend.. .

It's called clutch chatter. It started when you overheated the clutch by riding it.It basicly is burn marks on the pressure plate and flywheel. The best way to rid yourself of it is a clutch job and have the flywheel turned.
For the time being you can just live with it till either the clutch/slave goes .

Tranny has to come out of the truck. Also change the slave cylinder while you have everything out.
To turn the flywheel you need a special machine. Its like getting the brake rotors turned.
Cheap, good and complete clutch kits: http://stores.ebay.com/Clutch-City-Online

Thanks for that link man, So basically I have to bring it somewhere to have them turn the flywheel?? sh**. I can do the clutch myself with my buddy, no clue about the slave cylender.. and I'll have to ge tthe flywheel done. How much cash am I looking to spend at doing this? Slave cylender looks to be about $70 which isnt bad, clutch for the 3.0l is $235. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Get the whole kit. I t cost me like $300 which isn't bad. The reason I'm saying get it is because it tends to go bad in Ranger.
I wouldn't change anything just because of a slight chatter anyway. I'm giving you info for the future when it craps out.
I didn't know you could do it with sand paper. Something new learned.

Yeah clutch is faqed. Anyone ever heard of center force dual friction clutches? My bud who helps me work on my truck was mentioning them to me just now, says there really good but might cost a little more than the LUK's one from ebay. Might check them out... Not to sure if I should park the truck for a bit or just drive it, kind of skeptical about that..

I used one and didn't like it. They chatter no matter what and they hate being slipped. If you want a performance clutch look at www.specclutch.com

- specclutch? thanks bro I'll check that out... the center force ones were kinda expensive too almost $400.
- really? nvm that pm I sent you then haha I still doubt I'm gonna drive it much though... yeah mine only seems to do it sometimes when I drive it too, my dad just took it for a spin and it shook like hell, hes easy on clutches though, Iam too but when I was wheeling i rode it really bad, and overheated it. It was smoking like crazy...

I was towing with my dad's 150, inline 6 5speed whole lots of torque, while backing in the trailer over a curbed driveway i used the clutch just a little too much. When I got out of the truck, all I could smell was clutch. Anyway, he didn't replace the clutch until it started slipping many, many years later. I wouldn't worry too much about your clutch, just keep an eye/ear out on it.
