bad gas mileage?
iridiums are garbage
those plugs require a powerful ignition coil to fire them properly
i was getting bad fuel mileage as well , until i switched over to the copper plus plugs
my mileage went up by over 150 km`s to the tank
i get a steady 600 km`s to a tank full now

my trans is sliping its a 94 ford ranger 4x4 4.0 like ill give it gas and it wont shift in to 2 un tell i let off the gas and coast and then it well shift and i have to do that to all the gears.......... what gives
the tranny in my 01 went out bc the pump in the trans burnt out, supposedly a gasket broke down and was blocking the flow of the transmission fluid so it took longer for the pump to build up enough pressure to shift. i would be going about 45 mph in first gear and screaming at like 5000 rpms before it would shift to second.
well now i got a question haha, anyone know where i can get o2 sensors cheap? i used to get 25 to 26 mpg and i just drove 165 miles and i have just over a quarter tank left....so basically 13 mpg and i just changed my plugs and wires, (i bought stock motorcraft plugs), had my entire egr system completely replaced 4 months ago, i have a k&n drop in filter, i just cleaned my maf, iac, and throttle body. i have a flowmaster 40 on it right now and i have bfg long trail radials but they are 1 1/2" bigger than stock but it shouldnt matter because they are still street tires, not mud terrains. any ideas beside o2 sensors?

By the looks of this thread I'm just a few years too late lol, but behold, I have solved the elusive gas mileage problem that had plagued us Ranger drivers for so long.
I have a 1998 Ranger 2WD, with the 2.5 Lima and auto trans, 216,000 miles, replaced all plugs and wires with Motorcraft, removed and cleaned intake and throttle body, replaced both O2 Sensors, cleaned MAF sensor, no codes, engine runs perfect but extreme loss of power under a load and gas mileage had gone from 22 mpg all the way to 16. Does this sound like your situation? Tried everything there is to try on the engine? Well your problem is not with the engine at all!
SERVICE YOUR TRANSMISSION! I pulled the pan, found an insane amount of metal powder, magnet completely covered, even found some small thrust bearing rollers. I cleaned everything really well, changed the fluid and filter, and my 22 mpg was restored immediately. The down side of all this is my transmission's days are numbered, but as for now is shifting better than it has in years. No slipping, no grinding, but I do avoid pulling my utility trailer now.
The engine had been working overtime to turn a transmission with a clogged filter. SO SERVICE YOUR TRANSMISSION! IT MAY NOT BE TOO LATE! Wasn't for me. :)
