battery exploded
battery exploded
94 ranger 4x4 . battery exploded on startup. replaced with gel battery. i hear there was a recall for wiring problems-battery explode and or fire threat. never got notice. any info ?
That sux about your battery! Hope no one was hurt.
The only recall for a potentially catastrophic failure that I remember was for the ignition switch in the steering column. It would short, or something, after you had turned off the ignition. On a rare occasion, you'd come back to your truck (and several other Ford vehicles, for that matter) and find it on fire.
There wasn't anything metallic that bridged the postive and negtive terminals of the battery? Any damage to the truck from the battery grenading?

No recalls like that I've ever heard of. I think someone was just telling you that to make you feel better. When you have a battery with a bad cell they smoke and you never know it and when you start them they blow up. That's all. Replace the battery and life goes on.
A TSB doesn't warrant getting anything fixed though. A TSB is just to help the tech fix something it's still all customer pay. The recall applies to anyone but a battery issue would expire in 3 years anyways because Ford or any other manufacturer wouldn't expect a good battery to last that long anyways.
