power window problem

I just did a power window, lock and mirror conversion by swapping the dash, cab and underhood harness. The windows don't work but all of the other power options work including the keyless entry. I swapped all of the parts with the same exact truck as mine and switched all of the boxes in the dash. Has anyone had the same problem or know any helpful information?

You have the exact same truck as me (same year, cab engine trans) and I just did the same thing over winter break. I just replaced the the dash harness, haven't got around to doing the underhood one yet.

Did you remove the radiator to put it in or just loosen the mounts and leaned it back?

On one of the conversions I did I didn't replace the under hood harness, I just added the wire from the bulkhead connector to the fuse box.

I would do that but the dash harness and hood harness are wired for cruise and I currently don't have that (until I get the hood harness installed, already have the servo cable, clockspring, buttons)

I found a guy on craigslist and got both harnesses for 50 bucks and I went to the local pull-a-part to get the doors. As for the doors they were a different color so I was swapping the guts out and found out that the wiring harness on the passenger door is the same setup for my year but the drivers side is different. Donor doors were for a 1999. I didn't think there was any difference in door wiring.

Yes there are differences in the drivers door, the passengers side is the same from 98-06 I think. FYI I just put an 07 harness in a truck with 04 wiring and it didn't match up right although I made it work by moving some wires around.

I removed the radiator on my truck, I didn't want to accidentally damage it. On the truck at the you pull yard I just leaned it back. I used a harness from a 98 and had to rewire everything but it was the only 2.5 I could find with all power options and cruise.

About $150 the donor truck I used was rolled over with airbags deployed so the parts were cheaper.

Any 2000 model would have worked, as long as its a 2wd automatic, doesn't have to be from a 2.5. The one I pulled was a 2000 V6 A/T 2wd.

Thanks, it was a missing fuse. It was pretty late last night after I got everything installed, was frustrated and not really thinking too clearly.

I think I was the first member on this board to do this, I did the entire swap from a donor vehicle. I have a 2001 and I took parts from a 2001 donor, Make sure you do it from the same specs as your ranger, In my case I have a 2wd non flex fuel manual, so I took the same parts from the exact same vehicle, I took the entire engine harness from the engine fuse box all the way to the servo, than i took the entire dash and swapped in and took my dash out, There was no need for me to just swap the harness only, when it's rather easier to just install the donor dash complete. Than I took donor doors from the other ranger since they were already setup for power. swapped doors and mirrors, Once I installed this which took me about

1- engine harness (45 mins-1 hr)
2- dash swap (30-45 mins)
3- doors installed (1 hr) took more time, because i had to align doors)

note, you do not have to remove your radiator, and you will not break anything, just take out the top bolt on each end of the radiator and push it forward to install the harness, simple job.

OEM install and no after market parts. :)

You must have been flying to get that dash out in and out in 30-45 minutes. With your truck being a manual that cuts some time out of the equation. No shift indicator cable, no shift interlock, no shift cable (which I always have a hard time with).

no not flying, but how about having done it over 13 times, **** gets easy , and yes being a manual makes a world of difference.

I've had to replace a few heater cores so I've got it down to around 1 1/2 hours . I have a 3/8 socket adapter I use on a drill. You can really blaze through it then.

mine is an XLT and it didn't have cruise or the power options. The only thing extra it had was carpet, better door panels, and chrome bumpers and grilles. It didn't even have the rear sliding window.

mine came with power. does someone out there know what preferred equip. package 867A is? my sticker doesn't mention anything about power options being standard or optional but lists this number w/o a price or "no charge". the sliding window cost me $200 and privacy glass was standard w/ this option for $130.

Have you checked to see if your truck is prewired? I don't know about a 2005 but from what I've seen on 98-00 models if you have power options you usually have cruise or are at least prewired for it.

It may have been asked but do you have to do the harness change ?
Can’t you just add power to the doo harnesses and match the interconnecting harness between the doors ?

Almost too much work.

The power option wires are integrated into the factory harness so it's not easy to add them without changing the harness. I thought about building a stand alone harness but never got around to it...
