haha hey guys specialy bob!


OK so im driven home went to use my power windows NOTHING on either drivers or pass side so im like WTF....shut the truck off go inside come back out bail in the truck and now they work !! yay im happy..today i bail in the truck no windows..nothing.. power locks still work though..and i read my owners manual 4 times i dont see a power window fuse am i blind or just need to be shot? and all the fuses look fine i dont know!!

i had a simular problem i figured it had to do with the extreme cold.

 

yea it gets PRETTY cold here was like -6F here today and its supposed to get to like -15F by friday..

 

sounds like the connector for the window switch on the driver side. make sure it is fully connected, also make sure that the wires are fully pushed into the connector. if the driver side switch has an open in it, the pass side will not work. and it sounds like a loose connection, and with a bump or slam of a door it closed the circuit and now its open again.

 

oooo never thought of that..thats a 5 min fix crossin my fingers! ill do it tomorrow though too dark to cold to bother tonight thanks Jared!

 

I agree with Jared. Probably the DS switch connector has an intermeittent open.

There are a couple of relays in the system. I've never seen one act up in the cold but I suppose it's possible.

It's probably not a fuse if the problem comes and goes - fuses either work or they're failed for good. In addition to the fuses, there is an internal circuit breaker in each window motor assembly but that would normally only affect one side at a time.

 

i'm not too sure on this one, but i did blow (IIRC) fuse #26 and it's the one that controls the windows, but it also controls the speedo indication as well...so if that fuse was blown you'd get no needle movement from your speedo, an airbag light that flashes code either 29 or 2929 (neither exist in fords system that i know of), no dome lights, and no window control...

so like bob said, very doubtful you've got a bad fuse

 

Well this might not help now but i will let you know any way. I remember etting an explorer in that the cust said that when thy go to open the window it doesnt work. I saw no problems so i had the cust drive it with me in the CRAZY SEAT{no controll from the passenger seat}. He was driving and holding the switch up with his wrist.
So i checked it out and what i found was interesting to me and i wasnt able to find out any thing in the books about it.
What happens if you hold the switch long enough it will heat the relay and then kick it off for 30seconds pluss. Either ford did think of this or they didnt. But it is an adverse responce to on overload to the motor..

That is the internal circuit breaker in each motor assembly that I mentioned in my post above. Ford installed them to protect the motor windings from overheating when stalled. They automatically reset when it cools down.

 

its the switch..i think i need a new one..i played with it today and it worked put it all back together then it stopped now it works haha i think i maybe just order a new one..
