Ok i have my truck in the shop alot for either haveing long pedal travel or no brakes either. cuz right now i stomp it all the way to the floor and thats when it finally starts to grab is there anyway to correct this or make them stiffer? then also by changein the brake lines to those steel braided brake lines what does that do on brakeing?

Sounds like they need to be bled properly, or there is a problem with the mastercylinder...

The rear brakes could be in need of adjustment.

I' m going to go with 3literbeater. It sounds like you have an excessive amount of air in the brake lines. You'll need to found out how it got there before actually doing any repairs.

What they said. Definitely sounds like air in the lines.. you should have a mechanic sort out the CAUSE of the problem before doing a stop-gap repair (some mechanics would just bleed the brakes and never stop to wonder why they had air in the first place - this is a recipe for disaster, because if the condition re-occurs you could have a brake-failure resulting in a collision or worse.)
