Icon8 Can't get into my truck

This is super annoying, this morning my driver's side door handle broke when I attempted to get into my Ranger (3rd handle in 3 years). Unfortunately, on this occasion, my truck is parked about 6-8 inches from my roommate's house so getting in via the passenger side is not an option. I can squeeze in there and get the door open slightly, but I can't fit myself into the truck. Tried using a coat hanger to reach across and pull on the inside handle of the door, but of course as soon as I get it close to being pulled open, the hanger slips off the handle. The irony is that parking where I am (for the first time ever) was supposed to make winter easier for me to deal with. UGHH!!!

If you have manual windows try rolling it down and do it dukes of hazard style or if you have sliding back glass open it up and use someone small to reach in and grab the handle i used my little cousin once when my uncles handle broke lol

Also if its breaking that often something internal must be putting pressure on it. Knock on would I'm still using 11 year old handles with no trouble! good luck!

Oh wow, thank you for the reply. I'm semi-embarrassed for not thinking of that. Lol. As for the reliability of my handles, I believe it is an unfortunate function of the climate in which I live. This only happens in the winter, when it gets really wet and cold and things freeze, and I try to be as careful as possible, but I get burned by it every year. Hahaha. I see you are in Georgia, my folks live there. I suspect once I move to a milder climate I will no longer suffer broken door handles. Thanks!!!

Yeah suppose it is the climate it's pretty mild here but you would think someone aftermarket would make a stronger one! But i do seem to remember seeing a treatment almost like armor all its for plastic and keeps it from becoming so brittle in the cold that may help you out!

How are you braking them, there in three years ?

Maybe you need to get a set made out of STEEL !

It's not the climate. I've never broken a handle on my truck and we get days where snows melting and the next day it's a -45 windchill.

I would say there's something wrong putting pressure on the handle that shouldn't be there, or you're getting crappy handles.

Are you buying them from a junkyard? Or brand new OEM parts?
