What kind of antenna should i get, i've heard a lot of talk about the firestiks and they arent too bad priced. Where should i put it at and how do i get it tuned and all that good stuff. Thanks a lot guys!

I don't see what model you got.

As for the antenna. I bought a Wilson Trucker 2000. It was recommended by my dad who has driven trucks (dump or a tractor trailer) for over 25 years. His opinion is if you are going to buy an antenna then you better buy one that will work. The t2000 is spendy but I never have a problem hearing anyone or talking to anyone.

Yes, the link to the radio you have dosn't work. Just make sure you check the SWR's when you install your radio/antenna.

Oh i just put the pic up there let me put the actual link. What do you mean check SWR? I have no background with these things, so i have no clue what to do. It came with a magnetic mount antenna,

but I wanted something that i wouldnt have to worry about it flying off as i go down the interstate. Is there a webpage or something i can look at that explains all this stuff?

if you have any truck stops nearby they can usually tune it for ya (that fixes the SWR). I had a firestik II for a few hours then it fell off while off roading...i would suggest something with a little more flex if you plan on offroading...

I'll stop by a truckshop next time im out. I looked around online about tuning and everything and i think i have the basics down now, im just gonna go to radioshack and get a SWR meter. I'll show yall the install pics when im done.

BTW My wilson t2000 holds up great off road. I have driven down ATV trails without a problem. Of course the bracket was a little bent but the antenna itself was fine. My dad says he has seen guys hit tree branches at 60mph and they just bend in a 90* angle and you can bend them back good as new.
