check your battery connections, clean and use some sort of conductive terminal paste to protect the connection, in and outside of the Connector and check all the connections from the battery to the starter.

Also check mounting points on the solenoid.

I checked the voltage at the battery and it was at 10 volts. What could cause the battery voltage to just drop 2 volts just by turning the vehicle off.

Not knowing the age of the battery, maybe it is just old.
Or, maybe the connections are bad and the battery may not have fully charged.
Or, maybe the alternator is going bad and isn't putting out enough to re-charge the battery.

Some Auto Parts Stores have a battery/alternator tester and they can test your units out or a local garage may do it too it they have a load tester.

All of the charging system components need to be tested under load to determine if they are good or even bad.

Battery was refurbished less than a year ago
I took it back to where the guy that I bought the truck off of got the battery and they gave me another one.
They said it just lost amperage.

Sorry but a battery just doesn’t "lose amperage”, there has to be a reason.

When you got the battery from them, did you have a problem then or is this another battery we are talking about ?

If you are running batteries down you need to address the problem.
Again, wiring, bad connections, low output from the alternator, bad grounds, bad battery… (ies).
There has to be something draining the amperage, maybe a switch is shorted, just enough to drain but not fully kill the battery.

So where do you stand now, you have a new battery or the one that was given to you when you purchased the truck ?

Have you had the electrical system load tested ?

One thing to try, with everything off, lift the positive cable from the battery. If there is a spark, even a slightest of sparks, then you have something draining power. If no spark, you might be good.

Sorry for all of the question but we need info to help at all or as little as I am able to.

It was a refurbished battery I'm guessing that one of the cells went bad. The guy that checked the battery out said it had good voltage but no amperage.

Good that you know that it was only the battery.

Keep an eye on it anyway, just to be on the safe side and you might get the system load tested just to know too.

Luck with the cure.

One more thing, how do they refurbish a battery ?
