Damn Chipped Keys...

My used 2002 ranger only came with one chipped key.
Wanted to get a spair made $90 bucks ouch!
I know if I had two chipped keys I could make a third for about $10 bucks.

But how do I make a second key...cheaply?
I'm open to all suggestions,
Is it possable to disable the senser in the truck so any non-chipped key will work?

Thanks Don

the spare my truck came with works only with the door and is non-chipped.

i made a spare at the dealership(ford one, not the one i bought from) when i got it, it was 90 bucks.oh well.

You can program new keys on your own but you need 2 original keys. No you can't remove the PATS system without going to the dealers and spending money.

Go to any key shop and have some spares made. take the PATS key, cut the plastic chipped piece off and zip tie it under the ignition inside the the column cover. ruins the original but it works

so, the good key just needs to be close to the PATS box?

Fair warning. When you disable/bypass the PATS (which is basically what your doing), stealing your vehicle just became easier.

thieves will have what ever they want as bad as they want it. pats or alarms arent even relevant if you get flatbedded
