Icon5 dash light replacement

I have a 96 ranger with a 4 banger. I can't figure how you replace the bulbs in the instrument cluster. I tried taking out the stereo, vent and and what ever puter-box. I can touch the bulb holder but cant remove it.The haynes manual says I have to remove a plate and lower the steering column and other crap. Please tell me their is a better way.

Yup..take that metal plate off under the steering column (lower dash area) and then you'll be able to get to the other bolts holding in the cluster panel. Then you'll be able to get to the bolts holding the cluster in so you can get it out of there to get at the bulbs. There is a good How-To on here if you search. I had a bulb out in mine and that helped alot. I went ahead and replaced them all with new while I was in there.
