Ok! So I am beyond frustrated! The module has been replaced, will turn off and on.. until I drive 20 minutes highway and now they won’t turn off again??? Been at the shop twice in 2 days and they said that if it happens again they are stumped!
Any ideas????

Assume a Ranger but what YEAR?

Also engine/trans and any other details, i.e. 1998 3.0l automatic
And do you have factory fog lights?

So just the head lights stay on, no parking lights, so the assumption is DRL

DRL can/is disabled by pushing e-brake down 1 or 2 "clicks", test that that works, before the 20min then after the 20min

 

Hey! So I have no idea all the details of the truck.
This is what I know.. 93 Ford Ranger
v6, XML supercab 2 wd

The mechanic said they checked:
headlight switch
multufunction switch
light sensor
relay
grounded wire and have replaced the drl twice.

Its odd that once replaced it will shut off but once I travel 20 min highway it won’t?

OK 1993 helps

There is no "light sensor" on any ranger, just FYI
And no relays involved in pre-1995 models

Did you try the park brake to turn off the DRL?

Wiring diagram is here, not a complicated setup in 1993/4 model Rangers

The "high beams" are used for DRL not low beams, the DRL module "pulses" the 12volts down to 8volts so lights are on but not as bright, about the same as low beams, maybe a little less bright

You/they could pull the fuses to see where the power for the lights is coming from, unless the lights get much brighter after 20min then you may have an issue with the low beam circuit not the DRL
