Dome Light Trouble

I have a '99 Ranger XLT, and the dome lights will not come on. When i bought the truck, i noticed the light cover was behind the seat and there were no bulbs in it. The guy told me that he had meant to put bulbs in it, he just hadn't time to. So I bought some bulbs for it yesterday, and was surprised when nothing happened. I was wondering if you guys could lead me to somewhere to start looking for my trouble? i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to electrical problems, so any advice you have would be very helpful.

Here’s my take…
Interior Light Sw is in the door not on the post as it once was.
BUT, usually the interior lights fail “On" so why they are not on is another thing.
Check the fuses, test for voltage, see if the interior light sw on the Dash Dimmer Sw works.
After that if you can’t find anything, might be easier to run a new wire; at least that is what I would do.

Sorry not much help but a starting point.

is there anywhere i can buy the white plastic piece that the bulbs fit in to? i'm not sure what the name of it is but i'd like to replace it b/c the socket on the driver side has a crack in it and i'm thinking that might be keeping the bulb from working.

if u pop the cover off there are 3 screws to take the light out. take it out and just check it out see if there is any corrosion. you can find those at almost any junkyard lol
