There is no dome light in my truck because when i do put one in it wont shut off. Anyone know why this is?

Check to see if your door ajar light is always on when the dome light is. If so, then it's a faulty sensor in the door (they are actually in the door latch). Common remedy seems to be to hit the door latch with WD-40, as it's a PITA to get to the sensor.
