DRL Failure

New member, hello to all existing members. This looks like a very respectful and useful forum.

I acquired a 2001, 3.0l, Auto, 4x2 Ranger with 57,000 Kms on the clock in Mar.of 2021. It's in very god shape although basically a stripped version of the truck, built in May of 01. No PW, locks, Cruise, or upgraded stereo.
So far it has been fine although it's still early.

Yesterday the DRL system exhibited an intermittency, in that with just the DRL on, the headlights would flicker in intensity, even to the point of going out, but in the short term returning to normal. Then the DRL system simply quit. No lights. The dash mounted rotary headlight switch, the stalk mounted hi beam switch (both momentary and on) and the fog light switch all work normally.

I've search this site and have read through a number of threads on the headlights. All fuses that the owners manual indicates have something to do with the DRL system (3 fuses) and the headlights themselves (3 different fuses) are fine.

I have pulled Fuse # 31 from the Power Distr. Box with the headlights on (as a Test of the DRL Module, described by Ron D. in a reply to a thread dated 05-28-2019) and the headlights stayed on which seems to indicate the DRL module is OK.

I've also studied the 2000 Pdf wiring schematic for a Mazda that Ron D has provided a thread dated 07-14-2021 to give me some insight into what the circuit design on my Ranger may look like.

The failure mode indicates to me either a Grounding issue, which I have checked or a DRL Module failure, although my experience is that a PWM device simply just fails, no flicker about it.

Can anyone post a schematic for a 2001 Ranger's headlight circuitry, or advise where one is available? Any other insight is also appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
