Aftermarket Alternator?

Aftermarket Alternator?
Is anyone running an aftermarket upgraded alternator, or is everyone here using Used ones from Expo's and what not?
I finally put enough audio drain on her that the H/U and head lights are dimming and I don't like that.
I don't know if I want to go through all the work of pulling mine for a Used one that could go soon. What do you guys ( or Girls) think?

Don't really remember. I think it was around $170. I do know the total project (wire, circuit breaker, alt) was right at $200.
I got mine from JWDobbs on ebay, but I think he has started selling under a different name. He was in bad health near the end of the year, and let his son run the business for a while. His son didn't handle things very well, and JW got some negative feedback on his account. I think he still has an active ebay account, so you might be able to reach him through the "contact seller" section.

^where did you connect the feed from the alternator? to the battery or distribution box? When I got my 200a alt. I tried both and it wouldnt charge, but when I hooked the stock black/orange wire as well as the bigger upgraded cable [to the distribution box] it worked.. I dont know what the deal is

I had it connected to the battery for awhile, but ended up putting it at the distribution box.
If you trace your stock + cable down the harness from the battery, you'll see there are actually 2 cables in there with fusible links. Eventually, you'll find a single wire (I think mine was yellow/white) that just seems to come out of nowhere and connects to the stock cable going to the alternator. This wire supplies current to the alternator's field coil. How much current goes through the field coil is controlled by the regulator. The higher the current through the field coil, the greater the output from the alternator. It needs to be connected to the battery. That's why you weren't charging.

Would like the Tremor Alt, is it a simple swap, same connectors?

I got it locally from a tuner who road tuned with laptop,
datalogged using a LM-1 Wideband Digital Air/fuel Ratio Meter with o2 hooked to a bung in my exhaust.
(Not sure if i can post his link here, is BAMA a supporting vendor here? Other forums i belong to only allow links for supporting vendors)
BTW im considering getting a higher amp alt from your site is it a plug 'n' play hook up just like the stock one (connections and mounting the same?)
