Proper air tire air pressure
Ok Im ready to get my ***** busted for asking a question a ditsey house wife may ask but : I have 04 ranger xlt with P245/75/16 tires sitting on factory 16's of course. But the sticker in the inside of the door says to inflate to 30 psi. To me the tires inflated to 30psi seems kind of underinflated. Is 30 psi correct? Anyone with the same tire/wheel package what do you inflate your tires too? The tire itself says 44psi max....

Disadvantages of Underinflation
An underinflated tire can't maintain its shape and becomes flatter than intended while in contact with the road. If a vehicle's tires are underinflated by only 6 psi it could weaken the tire's internal structure and eventually lead to tire failure. Lower inflation pressures will allow more deflection as the tire rolls. This will build up more internal heat, increase rolling resistance (causing a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%) and reduce the tire's tread life by as much as 25% while increasing the probability of irregular treadwear. Drivers would also find a noteworthy loss of steering precision and cornering stability. While 6 psi doesn't seem excessively low, it typically represents about 20% of a passenger car tire's recommended pressure.

Its a conspiricy with the tire manufacturers and auto-makes so the tires wear down faster and people have to buy new ones sooner!
I've had my stock Goodyears at the sidewall recommended pressure of 41PSI since the day I bought the truck. The things are now almost 5 years old and still not worn out yet. Which sucks, because I hate them.
